Humor Improv Therapist [2007 – present]
Los Angeles County Dept. of Mental Health
Brook was trained in comedy improvisation by The Second City, and since then he has made unique contributions as an expert in both the entertainment and behavioral health fields. In 2011 the UCLA Center for Health Services and Society produced a short documentary about him: “Learning Trust Through Art”.
Since 2012, Brook has been invited to be a judge for the annual PRISM Awards, which honor the accurate depiction of drug and alcohol addiction and mental health issues in movies and television.
Clinic staff and clients say that Brook reminds them of Patch Adams, the doctor who is a clown as part of his bedside manner. Brook sent the UCLA documentary to Patch in 2012, and Patch invited him to teach a weeklong program in 2014 at Patch’s Gesundheit! Institute.
Brook is currently creating a YouTube channel for his 1/2 hour Late Night Comedy Talk Show web series: “The Circus of Life”.
He earned his B.A. in Motion Pictures/TV from UCLA.
